’70s Glam

Monday, July 16, 2012

As I was out pulling for one of my product shoots at Designer Resale Boutique in Ferndale, I stumbled upon unique pants from the ’70s. The vibrant orange hue, similar to the Pantone 2012 Color of the Year, Tangerine Tango, instantly caught my eye.

The shop’s expert seamstress tailored the pants to perfectly fit my figure. I love the relaxed chic feel of the trousers. To say they are comfortable is an understatement.

The print of the pants resembles the geometric patterns that ruled the Prada Fall 2012 runway. The collection, which exudes retro sophistication, inspired me to achieve a look featuring a fresh take on the disco decade.

A white bodysuit and white blazer allow the vibrant trousers to really pop. Symmetrical jewelry plays off the motif on the pants. I added a complementary color to my linear equation with an ombré blue clutch. To complete the ensemble, I opted for nude pumps to help elongate my legs.

When channeling a look from the past, the key is to inject urban flair to your getup. It is also essential that you tailor your vintage garments to best accentuate your body type. The Damsel in Detroit

The name Hoda (pronounced Hood-a) means guidance. It's no wonder I'm a natural born guidance giver of style. Fashion is more than just supermodels strutting down a runway in $5,000 Christian Louboutin heels... it's a business, a culture, a lifestyle and for some like me, it's a passion.
